Hospital Mandate FAQ
Short answers for searchers checking a facility. For the full TEAM explainer FAQ, see the CMS TEAM FAQ. For 2028 joint replacement, see the CJR-X FAQ.
Is my hospital mandated for CMS TEAM?
TEAM is mandatory only if your facility is one of the 721 acute-care IPPS hospitals CMS selected in designated CBSAs. Search the hospital list by name or state. If it is not on Rainfall’s CMS Q2 2026 Participant List snapshot, it is not on this copy of the CMS roster.
Is my hospital mandated for CJR-X?
CJR-X is mandatory nationwide beginning January 1, 2028 for most acute-care hospitals paid under both IPPS and OPPS. TEAM participants, Maryland hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, and Rural Emergency Hospitals are excluded. See CJR-X eligibility.
Can a hospital be in TEAM and CJR-X at the same time?
No. Hospitals participating in TEAM are excluded from CJR-X while TEAM is active (through December 31, 2030). After TEAM ends, otherwise eligible hospitals are required to enter CJR-X. Start at Am I mandated?.
How do I find my hospital on the map?
Open the TEAM hospital list, type the facility name, or click your state. Region maps live under census regions.
What TEAM track should my hospital elect?
TEAM has three tracks: Track 1 (no downside, medium reward), Track 2 (lower risk and reward, years 2–5), and Track 3 (highest risk and reward). Safety-net hospitals can stay in Track 1 for up to three years. See the tracks and the revenue playbook.
Who advises Rainfall on hospital TEAM work?
The R.A.I.N. Advisory Committee includes hospital operators and clinicians (UPMC, Mercy, UC Health, Mayo Clinic, Kaiser Permanente, Avera, and others). Individual bios are on each advisor’s people page.
